Organized in 1919, and erected in 1963 on Oak and 20th Street, of Kenova, WV, this local church has served as a beacon of God's Spirit and truth for many decades.
Today, its members continue to uphold the church's God-given mandate to teach a biblical worldview and in the same Spirit and truth, to love God, each other, and our neighbors.
We affirm the Holy Bible as the inerrant, inspired word of God and the basis for our beliefs. This church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of "The Baptist Faith and Message" as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000, attached as Addendum I. We voluntarily band together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are believer's baptism and the Lord's Supper (See article IV of the bylaws).
All regenerate believers by grace through faith are members of Christ's church, and have been sealed by God's indwelt Holy Spirit unto eternal life. 20th Street Baptist reserves the exclusive right to determine who shall be covenant members of this local body and the conditions of such membership as well as its privileges. In order to join this local congregation as a member, individuals must present themselves for consideration in one of three ways:
1. By profession of faith and for baptism according to the policies of this church.
2. By promise of a letter from another Baptistic Church, which practices baptism by immersion and doctrinally is in accord with the "Baptist Faith and Message."
3. By restoration upon statement of prior conversion experience, and baptism by immersion in a Baptistic church when no letter is obtainable.
